This is a continuation of a previous piece:

-

It’s been two weeks since the wedding that brought together my aunt and Nazir.

Given that, it has also been two weeks since they died, brought together in death.

What is left to say?

When there is so much left to do.

How many of us left?

When so many have been murdered.

-

What remains of my family is my cousin Yasmin and my dad’s brother, Ishmael.

We were a small family anyway.

But the family wedding became the family funeral.

What was left of our extended family has left for good.

Now there are only three of us.

Four, if you count Ahmad, who has been staying with us.
