A Poem

(This was scheduled for this Monday -25/12/2023- but I am unsure what occurred, sorry for the late upload but enjoy!)

-

As she lay dying, near her end,

She recounted what she told him often, beginning from the start:

‘While I am here,

To God, go near.

When I am gone,

To God, go nearer.

Remember your Lord and pray.

But, please, do not mourn me.

Remember what has been,

Forget what could be.

For there is no turning back time,

Not anything we can do but pray.

I am not one to fear death,

I shall be more alive after my last breath.

And

Yet-

After our earthly presence does cease,

I hope we all go in faith and peace.

Because death alone is not my fear,

It is dying without what I need near.

So, please:

Honour my last dying wish,

By keeping it alive.’

We will certainly test you with a touch of fear and famine and loss of property, life, and crops. Give good news to those who patiently endure-

who say, when struck by a disaster, “Surely to Allah we belong and to Him we will ˹all˺ return.”

~ The Qur’an- 2:155–156
