~~~~A Look Into Ruqayyah’s Reading Journey: An Exclusive Interview~~~~
Rita: Good morrow to you all! I am joined today by a fellow Muggle bookworm, Ruqayyah, who just finished the Harry Potter Series, in which I make several appearances in! But enough about me. Ruqayyah, welcome! How do you feel?
Ruqayyah: Gosh, upon completing the book-
Rita: No, no! How do you feel about being in my company? After all, I am an esteemed journalist and those that I interview are very fortunate to be granted the pleasure. *Dazzling smile*
Ruqayyah: Oh, right, yes, of course. Thank you for scaring the life out of me, as you Apparated out of nowhere, as I was getting over the book, demanding that you were to interview me. A pleasure indeed!
Rita: Ahah, yes! Now, do tell me how you found this book.
Ruqayyah: The final instalment in this wizarding heptalogy has left me pained and shaken. A hollow chasm has ruptured inside at the losses of so many warriors. And I can’t help but feel broken inside. From Fred and Moody (which I could not believe at first) to Snape and Tonks (she and Lupin had had a baby! How could they be killed?!) and everyone in between. And Dobby in his last brave moments! *Sniff*
Rita: There, there, now. *Hands a tissue*
Ruqayyah: Thank you. But it wasn’t all pain. There was action and mystery and adventure and betrayal. Due to your book-
Rita: *Beams* Which is available for purchase from any reputable bookstore.
Ruqayyah: I kept having doubts about Dumbledore but tried to push them away and then at the end, when I found out about his true motives, I couldn’t help but think he had betrayed Harry a little too. I would not say he is a villain but he is no hero either; he had good intentions but they weren’t executed in the best ways. It was a surprise but also a lesson to ponder: when does the ‘greater good’ become greater than that?
Rita: Indeed. Betrayals can hurt, no matter the size.
Ruqayyah: I would say Snape’s situation hurt the most and left me very empty. From his hard time as a student to a teacher, his story is a forlorn one that has little joy, making it all the more painful. And how he grew to care for Harry was so heartwrenchingly beautiful but then he had to DIE!?! But I liked how Harry and Ginny named one of their children Severus, that was a lovely sentiment, if not another stab of pain.
Rita: Shame they didn’t name one Rita.
Ruqayyah: *Disapproving look*
Rita: Right, but please do continue.
Ruqayyah: Harry, Hermione and Ron began and finished their journey of looking for the Horcruxes and Hallows and while they did, much went on. From bickering to embracing, learning to searching. We see the three battle through so much but in the end come out stronger and together. What I liked was how the Malfoys were spared -in a way- and how the bond of their family was stronger than that of darkness. There were many different points and lessons to take from this story and these are what make stories what they are. Another one I liked was Sirus’ brother carrying an act of such selflessness which led to his death. I don’t think he got much credit but that really shined for me and if only Black was still alive, *sniff* I’m sure he’d have been very happy for his brother.
I regard loyalty in high regard and so when I see it occur, it warms me so much and all the people who came to help Harry during the book just shined. From Luna, who I love dearly, to Percy, who surprised me, it proves unity can help overthrow the evil. And that’s what happened in the end. And while it was bittersweet, it was hopeful. And as we saw, hope can be a driving force that results in success.
Rita: Thank you, Ruqayyah! Any last words?
Ruqayyah: My thanks to all those who read this! To Suyain and Katherine for getting me to actually read the books and for all the book talks; To Dovey for all the Harry Potter quizzes and love; to angelsparks and Allie for all the comments and notes! And to my family for putting up with my bookish self. And you, Rita, for interviewing me and not embellishing it past the truth.
Rita: You are most welcome! And that’s all for today, magical bookish people, join me next time for an interview with George, who will be detailing an elaborate way to prank your family and friends. Cheerio!
