Musings #1
Something that’s been on my mind.
Support. It can be the driving force for so many things that we do and I recently saw that someone’s support, be that a word of encouragement or being there on the day, can truly affect your performance and work ethic. That little something someone said or that big thing someone did for you, in demonstration of their support, is sometimes the thing we need to go forth.
But what happens when you have a large support group but no self-support or belief in yourself? And this is what hit me the other day: No matter how many people cheer you on, believe in you and are there for you, if you don’t believe in yourself, that support becomes insignificant. It’s not going to drive you as it would, had you believed in yourself first. And this goes back to self-love.
You are a beautiful human being with the capability to do so much but no matter how much I or anyone else tells you how wonderful you are, if you don’t believe it yourself, words of encouragement mean nothing.
That’s why self-appreciation and love are key to so many doors of opportunity and discovery. Your life is a journey; there are many paths, destinations and places it can lead you to and that’s not going to happen overnight. And that’s okay. In fact, small steps that are steady are better in comparison to rushed steps that cause you to stumble. Ergo, self-love is not going to blossom overnight, or next week. But it will constant watering and nurturing that you have to do.
If you don’t believe in yourself, plant that seed of belief, so you can let it grow and eventually end with a plant of belief. And no plant grows in the dark with no help. You have to take care of it, believe it will grow and love it.
No one said this journey was easy but if we ease into it and take our time, we can make it so much more. You can make it so much more. I believe you can, now go believe in yourself that you can.
