A poem

-

It was the sky that blinded,

The moon that beguiled,

The stars that beheld,

The sky that was watched.

-

It is your soft touch,

It is your bold laugh.

It is your eyes glinting,

It is my heart flinting.

-

It shall be more.

It shall be yours.

I shall be mine.

It is ours.

This poem was formed in the late hours, as I fell asleep. Such is the life of a writer: words flood you when you are about to sleep, coddled with warmth, you do not want to rise from your barely conscious state to write the words, so you frantically recite them over and over, in a bid not to forget. The words remained remembered this time and here they are. It also happens to be that this sounded better when I was half asleep. Alas, enjoy!

-Among His signs are the day and the night, the sun and the moon. Do not prostrate to the sun or the moon, but prostrate to Allah, Who created them ˹all˺, if you ˹truly˺ worship Him ˹alone˺.

~The Qur’an 41:37
