Being more sustainable and eco-friendly

First, we must reduce items in the setting- by knowing stocks and only ordering what is needed will reduce waste. As well as reducing packaging and times when electricity is on and water. Reducing food waste by limiting stocks and only buying necessary foods will hold positive impacts on the environment. Making a push to sell all food by the end of the day and by not impulse purchasing, all help to reduce. Measuring and weighing food correctly and controlling food portions all contribute to the reduction of waste. Knowing that elderly may not eat as much as a younger person, means portions need to be altered accordingly and sizes available, while using up unused veg and fruits by turning them into seasonings, garnishing, jams, sauces and chutneys not only reduces waste but also saves money- as you can make your own condiments — which otherwise would need to be bought, it saves even more. Reusing produce, that has been kept in air light containers (increasing their life) will mean you do not have to buy more. Investing in reusable containers; bottles — in replace of cups that will just be thrown away; seasoning jars; sauce containers all will save on the environment, as single-use plastics are not. Having to reuse up egg whites for meringues or veg for a soup, will mean saving and reusing on used food, which could have gone to waste. Having efficient electricity will ensure the practice of sustainability in our practices. Serving food on plates that can be washed, instead of plastics will mean reusing the same things, sustaining the environment. Recycling anything in the practice will mean that business are taking the right steps for the planet, while having recycling bins for customers available will encourage customers to recycle more and a scheme can be put in place too. Beach cleans can also be promoted- with rewards available- like complimentary foods or vouchers. Unused oils can be recycled and given to companies, who convert them into biodiesel and recycling anything else in the practice all means that products can have a new life and are not wasted. Glass, metal, card, paper and many plastics all can be recycled, reducing the amount that needs to be remade and food waste can be made useful by sending them for fertilisers, food composts and fuels, which can be reused, when recycled, reducing unnecessary activities.

Our planet. Our home. Our heart.
