The Thief Of My Heart
Part 2: Two Beings Coming Together As One
(Psst! Have you read Part 1?)
Much did he understand and was able to decipher with haste but when it came to her, it always required more thought and time, yet when thinking of her, all he saw was forever. He prayed she thought the same.
♡
Little did leave her flustered and none could recall ever seeing pink colour her cheeks and like that, they would remain without witnessing, for none were like him. And she would tell him as much as soon as she saw him.
Mr. Cordis, nobody told me that you were a thief.
Oh?
You stole my heart.
Robbed me of breath.
Thieved my sanity.
Well, Ms. Amoris, you are hardly blameless yourself.
I did not thieve anything.
I beg to differ: part my rib cage and an empty cavern, where once my heart resided, will greet you. But I am not complaining, for it’s not really empty, not when you’ve replaced it with something more.
Then I cannot be called a thief.
No, for you are more than that to me. You made me leap off the ledge and all I have been doing ever since that has been falling.
Even now?
Especially now.
Why do you not stop?
How can I, when I am already so far gone?
What is it that you seek?
I’m waiting for you to catch me.
Catch you when I am falling myself?
Does that sound improbable?
No, not at all. Impossible lengths will I go and beyond, for you.
As shall I.
As you have done already.
You accept my efforts in the Aikhtibar Al'iikhlas?
What an absurd question, of course, I do and I hope to prove myself worthy of such acts myself.
You already have.
But this is only the beginning.
Of forever.
And always.
And ever after.
Indeed.
So, your heart is mine to keep?
Yes, it was already yours long ago. Only in the absence do we appreciate the former presence.
Exactly that, do not ever leave me again, hayat aşkım.
Of course not, I caught you, did I not? I don’t plan to ever let go.
Good, because I wasn’t sure what I was going to do with a broken heart.
And like that two souls came together. Bound by a force so potent and true.
♡
Because two flames in close proximity never stay lone for long; they come together as one burning fire, building on each other, ever brighter. Forever stronger as one.

Aikhtibar Al’iikhlas is a fictitious trial I created but can be likened to the trial and adventure present in the Turkish piece Hüsn ü Aşk by Şeyh Gâlib. It is an Islamic love story of the devoutness of a lover who takes on challenges for his love before marrying her. It is a wonderful piece, which I highly recommend others to read and enjoy.

And while this lies between poetry and fiction, it is the closest I have ever gotten to publishing the latter on Medium, for I am highly critical of my creative writing and fiction pieces. Nonetheless, I thank you for all the support and inspiration I have been blessed with, including but not limited to:
