A Poem

-

I ought to write something to quieten the screaming thoughts.

But when I pick up the pen,

The words flee.

They scurry away; too shy to see the light of paper.

How many letters are needed to declare a death sentence?

Too little and the message may not come across.

Too many and you will bore them to death anyway.

But who is to tell how much is too much?

You put a dot at the end to stop but keep going anyway.

Capitalise the start and forget about the end.

Too many lines, you have to start a new page.

Too few lines, you have to fill the page.

But who is to tell how less is too little?

Letters strung together to make words,

Words to create the stories you tell under moonlight.

Maybe these stories are fragments of our memories,

Or inspirations of the future.

You write to inform,

Create,
