You Are To Me

A Poem

-

You are the thunder, electrifying what runs through my veins.

You are the compass, guiding my heart.

You are the unsolved puzzle, occupying my thoughts.

The fire, burning my insides.

Light, blinding me.

Night, caressing me.

Yet, while you are all this to me, you are also not.

For you are a figment of my imagination, toying with me.

You are nothing but a lie, not truthful with me.

You are not.

But you could be.

And you can be.

Whatever is ordained for me I am grateful.

Whatever is not, I am grateful too.

Because faith and patience are what I hold dear,

Even when doubt wishes to creep near.

مِنْهَا ۚ وَسَنَجْزِى ٱلشَّـٰكِرِينَ

-And We will reward the grateful.

~ Qur’an- 3:145
