While there is no guarantee that your writing will entertain every reader (for we all have different tastes), it is imminent that your writing does not bore the majority, including yourself.
The question I always go back to is this:
‘If I were the reader, would I read this?’
Considering this allows me to ponder on the motives of my writing and the quality of my work itself. If ever my answer to this question is no, or I am unsure how to respond, this indicates to me that I am not doing something right or something ought to be done to amend this mishap or several of them.
What one must acknowledge is that writing is your voice on paper (or screen), it is that voice that reaches out to readers; this voice needs to be potent enough for readers to want to grasp a hold of it. To taste it and want to come back for it. And to do that, you need to ensure it interests them.
But preparatory to this, you require to make it interest you. You need to crave that taste for your…
