The Blessed Month Has Come

(I have scheduled this article in advance, knowing it will be published on the 11th of March 2024- a date when Ramadan has either just begun or amount to start, depending on the moon.I am no scholar, I am not perfect. This reminder is also for me.)

As we enter the blessed month of Ramadan, the ninth month in the Islamic year of fasting and attentive devoutness, I hope it is fruitful and a means of merit for us all. It is a mercy for us that Ramadan is here: ensure you make the most of it.

It is a month when peace descends upon us. Good deeds multiply. Truth shows. It is a time when believers strive for excellence and try their utmost best to please their Lord. Of course, this ought to not be limited to Ramadan, it ought to extend to every second of our living moment here on earth but extra emphasis lies in this month for our good deeds are increased.

Allah has made our task simple and easy, yet the distractions of this life coupled with our own desires and lusts can get in the way. One example of how simple it is to gain good deeds is detailed in this hadith:

Ibn Mas’ud (رحمة الله عليه/may Allah have mercy upon him) reported that the Prophet Muhammad (صَلَّى اللّٰهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ/may Allah honour him…
