I want to write poetry that makes people cry.

I want to write poetry that then heals them.

I want to write poetry that sings to you.

That calls to you.

To write poetry that you keep reading again and again.

To write poetry that makes you smile and weep and laugh.

To write poetry that glows in the dark.

That chases away demons.

Poetry that evokes deep feelings.

Poetry that makes people believe in love again.

Poetry that empowers you.

I want, I want, I want,

Oh, such greed.

But I do want to write poetry that you can relate to.

That you etch on your heart.

Wear on your soul.

I want,

So, I write.

نٓ ۚ وَٱلْقَلَمِ وَمَا يَسْطُرُونَ

-Nũn*. By the pen and what everyone writes!

~The Qur’an 68:1
